Communicate in a Genuine Human Voice

I've read a few articles lately about how our social media interactions on the web can come to haunt us. I would probably agree that you should be careful not to post inappropriate photos of yourself or foolish comments on the web for all to see.

Information associated with your personal and professional lives becomes your online reputation and is probably archived forever on the Web.

However, being seen as ridiculous is part of the human condition. Corporations and other organizations will only sound human when they empower real human beings to speak as themselves.
"[We] communicate in language that is natural, open, honest, direct, funny and often shocking. Whether explaining or complaining, joking or serious, the human voice is unmistakably genuine. It can't be faked." -The Cluetrain Manifesto
Putting your best face forward is not an unreasonable goal, but why can't we balance that by also being genuine?

Nancy Lyons of the Geek Girls Guide rants about The Misuse Of Social Media By Companies And Executives. She makes some good points.
"Social media is here to enrich our lives. Not make us fearful about living them." -Nancy Lyons
You go girl!
